Maintenance Guide

Hey there! Whether you're considering to install our mesh, or already have them installed, we’re glad you’re here. πŸ‘‹πŸΌ

Meshing may look simple, but it quietly does a lot β€” keeping out insects, letting in breeze, and standing up to daily life. How long your mesh lasts can depend on a few factors: how often it’s used, what it’s exposed to, and the climate.

In tropical countries like ours, mesh & materials used for installation can wear down faster due to constant UV rays, heavy rain, and high humidity. 🌦️ If you have pets, they may also add another layer of love, and wear. πŸΎπŸ’• Hence, we've put together this guide to provide guidance on upkeep, whether you’re protecting against mozzies or ensuring your loved ones stay safely indoors.

Which is the most convenient way to clean my mesh screen?

We would recommend using a mesh cleaning brush that can be purchased from marketplace sites (or sometimes as a freebie at our events 🀭) These brushes are generally designed with soft, angled bristles that can reach into the fine grids of the mesh to clean without being too harsh. Use the brush damp, with no soap.

Please ensure the mesh is completely dry before retracting, to prevent moulding.

How often should I clean my mesh screen?

This is dependent on your home's environment, but the general rule of thumb is that if it looks dusty, give it a quick clean with the brush before retracting. It is best to minimize debris build up, which can affect longevity of the mechanism.

When should I check the integrity of my mesh screen and how?

1) Mechanism, frequently.

Test that it retracts, latches, or locks in place as per normal.

2) Mesh, frequently.

Visually check first that there are no breaches in your mesh.

To determine if the mesh is degrading, run your hands along the entire area of mesh, it should not have cracks, feel sticky, rusty, nor leave residue (dust/fur excluded).

Additionally, for pet-safe models, push along the seams within the tracks, to ensure the mesh is sitting securely.

3) Installation, every 6 months.

This test can be done by tugging around the perimeter of your window mesh frame towards your home's interior. For door mesh frames, test in both directions. The frame should feel sturdy and not loose. If screws were used in your installation, please also check for any signs of rust.
